Alvord ~ J.B. Barnes, 79, a master plumber, went to be with our Lord Tuesday, January 22, 2013 in Decatur.
Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Sunset Assembly of God Church with burial in Alvord Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hawkins Funeral Home.
Rev. Ernie Patterson will officiate. Pallbearers include Wendell Berry, John Horton, Gary Bussell, Ray Patterson, Ronald Patterson, and Ronald Gose.
J.B. was born on April 28, 1933 to John and Mary (Henderson) Barnes in Alvord. He was united in marriage to Norma Jean Boyd on November 29, 1952 in Port Lavaca, Texas. J.B. served his country in the U.S. Army. He owned J.B. Barnes Plumbing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his great grandchild, Aisha; his brothers, Johnnie Barnes and Billy Barnes; his sisters, Berth Barnes, Helen Barnes, Dorothy Barnes, and Leona Milburger.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 60 years, Norma Jean Barnes of Alvord; his daughter, Sheryl Zwahr and husband Steve of Alvord; his son, Avery Barnes of Alvord; his grandchildren, Shonda, Steven, Whitney, Layla, and Hannah; his great grandchildren, Ava, Dayssi, Cecyl, Ila, Emery, Lily, and Adelyn; his sister, Francis Patterson of Alvord; other family members and a host of friends.
