JE Statham, 93, of Grapevine, Texas passed from this earth Tuesday, July 30th, 2024 in Decatur, Texas.
JE “Jay” Statham was born January 1st, 1931 to James E. and Bell (Braswell) Statham in Rockmart, Georgia. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy for over 22 years, having been awarded over 6 medals including the Purple Heart during his service and he retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 2. He spent over 10 years following his Navy Retirement in the Military Sealift Command. Jay was active in the Korean War, Vietnam War, the Gulf War (Desert Storm & Desert Shield). During his time in the Navy, much of it serving at Sea, Jay was able to travel to every continent on our planet, making many dear friends across the world. Jay settled in Grapevine, Tx in 1977 following his retirement from the Navy and he remained in and around this part of North Texas for the remainder of his life (while not at sea). He remained steadfast is Christian livelihood joining various churches in the area including the First Baptist Church of Euless, First Presbyterian Church of Grapevine (and Ft. Worth).
He was a beloved father, grandfather, and friend to many who will dearly miss him. Jay spent many years attending annual ship reunions for the USS Earnest G. Small his past shipmates and their family members will miss seeing Jay each year going forward.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Bell Statham; brothers, James (Howard), Jimmy, Hugh (RIP) Lee Wood, & Elmer (Royce) Statham; sister, Mary Ann Weatherby; his sons, John Bell & Johnny Edward Statham.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his sister June Statham Addison of Felton, Georgia; sons, James Statham and wife Stephanie of Alvord; Jerry Statham and wife Jill of Grapevine, his daughters, Kim Cleveland and husband Brett of Albany, Georgia; Cathy D’Adamo of Annapolis, Maryland; grandchildren, Jeff Statham, Rachel Mueller, Addie Doran, Jennifer Doran, Jackson Statham, Jet Statham, Zach Cleveland, Nicholas D’Adamo, Christopher D’Adamo, Dean D’Adamo Jr. and Charlotte Statham.
The Funeral Service is 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 17th, 2024 at:

A celebration of life reception to follow from 1:45pm-5:45pm (3.6 miles from the church), all family and friends of the family are invited to attend at:
