BRIDGEPORT -- Jean Caraway O'Dell, 78, a homemaker, died Friday, Sept. 8, 2006, at her home. Funeral: 2 p.m. Monday at Hawkins Funeral Chapel. Burial: Thomas Cemetery. Jean was born Oct. 19, 1927 in Electra to Willie E. and Kate Warren Caraway. She married Melvin Eugene "Boykin" O'Dell on Sept. 18, 1943 in Decatur. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter, Kathy Norwood, granddaughter, Melodye Brooks Stinnett, great granddaughter, Tina Malloy and brother, Earl Caraway. She was a member of the Carpenter Street Church of Christ. Survivors: Daughters, Carolyn Brooks and husband, David of Bridgeport, Jo McDaniel and husband, Corky of Bridgeport, Toni Matney and husband, Clyde of Bridgeport, Charolet Kinsey and husband, Ronnie of Buffalo Springs, Audrey Thompson and husband, Don of Lequirek OK and Sherry O'Dell of Healdton, OK; brother, John Caraway and wife Mary of Bowie; sisters, Helen Russell and Wanda Snow of Grapevine; 25 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Sue Caraway of Bridgeport; son-in-law, Tommie Norwood of Gainesville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
