Jerry Reese Overton

Decatur ~ Jerry Reese Overton, 89, went to be with our Lord Monday, February 10, 2020 in Decatur.

Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2020 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Decatur with burial in Paradise Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home chapel.

Pallbearers include: Chance Overton, Marshall Payton, John Payton, Brad Hardt, John Neal, and Larry Lewis.

Jerry was born on March 30, 1930 to Modrell and Loneta Charlene (Russey) Overton in Fort Worth, Texas. He was united in marriage to Guynell Daggett on January 28, 1955 in Fort Worth, Texas. Jerry worked in farm and agriculture as a Rancher. He proudly served our Country in the United States Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 57 years, Guynell Overton; his son, Michael Overton; and his brother, Robert “Bob” Overton.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his daughter, Michelle Payton and husband John of Decatur; 3 grandchildren, Chance Overton of Decatur, Kara Hardt and husband Brad of Decatur, and Marshall Payton of North Carolina; and 2 great-grandchildren, Lyla and Josie Hardt; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
