Runaway Bay ~ Jerry Winters, 83, went to be with our Lord Tuesday, February 4, 2025 in Runaway Bay.

Funeral service is 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 8th, at The Rock Church in Bridgeport with burial at Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Bridgeport.

Tim Jenkins will officiate. Pallbearers are Justin Thompson, Garrett Winters, Dillon Thompson, Trey Wiley, Chris Gilliam, Johnie West, and Scott Scherb.

Jerry was born on September 13, 1941 to Vernon and Dorothy (Brooks) Winters in Fort Worth. He was united in marriage to Shirley Pitts on March 25, 1963 in Fort Worth, they were together for 62 beautiful years. Jerry retired as the owner of Northside Florist in Fort Worth and he was a valued member and board member of The Rock Church, where he served for several wonderful years. He was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and a friend to many that will miss him dearly. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Dorothy Winters; and his brothers, Richard Winters and Donald Winters.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years, Shirley Winters of Runaway Bay; his children, Rhonda Jenkins and husband Tim of Runaway Bay and Todd Winters and wife Jenny of Roanoke; his grandchildren, Justin Thompson, Dillon Thompson and Jordan, Garrett Winters, and Erica Winters; his great-grandchildren, Trey and Jessica Wiley; his brother, Mike Pitts and wife Judy; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
