Justin ~ Jewell Dee Heath, 85, a retired truck driver, went to be with our Lord Thursday, October 10, 2019 in Bridgeport.
Funeral is 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at Aurora Baptist Church in Aurora with burial 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at DFW National Cemetery. Family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Monday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur and also 1 hour prior to service at the church.
Rev. Jimmy Withers will officiate. Pallbearers include Chad Barton, John Cicur, David Barton, Blake Emert, Craig Plante, Michael Robinson, and Brian Compton.
Jewell was born on December 17, 1933 to Willie and Tempie (Hill) Heath in Dallas, Texas. He was united in marriage to Betsy Ruth Ogden on December 25, 1955 in Waco. Jewell drove a truck and trained drivers for over 40 years before retiring from Swift Transportation and winning a prestigious 6 million safe mile award while traveling and seeing the country was one of his favorite pastimes aside from fishing, camping, listening to Bluegrass music and playing the guitar. He was a faithful member at Aurora Baptist Church and served as a Deacon for many years. Jewell was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his 4 brothers; and his 4 sisters.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, Betsy Heath of Justin; his daughters, Donna Turner and husband Lendell of Rhome, and Carol Ingram and husband Brian of Fairfield; his son, Mark Heath and wife Sue of Roanoke; his grandchildren, Jaclyn, Chad, David, Andrea, Natalie, Whitney, Hannah, Kacie, and Heather; his 14 great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Allison Heath of Dallas; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
