J.G. Cartwright

Boyd ~ J.G. Cartwright, the retired Boyd High School Football Coach for 35 years, passed away on August 26, 2021 at the age of 76.

Memorial is 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at J.G. Cartwright Stadium in Boyd, Texas.

Mark Autry will officiate.

J.G. was born September 22, 1944 to Vid and Virginia (Harp) Cartwright in Godley, Texas. He was united in marriage June of 1994 to Jan Gray in Grapevine, Texas. J.G. graduated from North Texas University with a bachelor’s Degree. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, coach, and friend to many who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vid and Virginia Cartwright; his wife, Jan Cartwright; and sister, Jenny Sue Robinson.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his daughter, Christy Cartwright of Roanoke; his 3 sons, Robby Cartwright and wife Sara of Decatur, Chris Kinnaird and wife Laura of Denton and their children, Scott Kinnaird and wife Jamie of Omaha, Nebraska and their children; 5 grandchildren, Hayley Myers, Alex Raasch, Colby Raasch, Jett and Cale Cartwright; his brother, Jan Cartwright and wife Dottie of Austin; numerous extended family members and a host of friends.
