Jimmie Ruth (Pebworth) Wilkins

Chico ~ Jimmie Ruth Wilkins, 93, a homemaker, went to be with our Lord and her loving husband Wednesday, October 7, 2015 in Chico.

Graveside service is 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Chico Cemetery. No set visitation.

Bro. Robert Cox will officiate.

Jimmie Ruth was born on September 22, 1922 to Lee and Lora (Mitchell) Pebworth in Fort Worth. After graduating high school she went to work at the old Montgomery Ward building in Fort Worth where she met her husband of 73 years, Jesse Curtis Wilkins. They were married on her birthday, September 12, 1942 in Fort Worth. During their first year of marriage Jessie joined the Army Air Corps and after schooling became a fighter pilot, naming his P-51 “Ginning Jimmie”. Throughout the war and 23 years of military life, Jimmie was always the faithful, steadfast military wife, running the household and raising their 3 children in Jesse’s absence. After retirement from the Air Force, Jimmie and Jesse ranched and farmed their 140 acres in Chico. For decades they were active members of the First Baptist Church in Chico and Jimmie was the pianist for many years. Jimmie and Jesse were long-time members of Eastern Star of Chico.

Jimmie was preceded in death by her loving husband Jesse one month prior to her passing. She is also preceded in death by her son, Ronald Wilkins.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Pamela Rohr and Patti Biffar; her daughter-in-law, Beverly Wilkins; her grandchildren, Jesse Wayne Wilkins and wife Denise, Angela Wilkins, Aaron Biffar, Andrea Biffar and husband J.D. Jones; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

There was never a more devoted wife and mother than Jimmie Wilkins. No one could ever doubt the love she had for her husband and children. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
