Chico ~ Jimmy B. Cox, 89, went to be with our Lord Tuesday, April 4, 2023 in Chico.
Funeral is 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 6, at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport with burial at Chico Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Chad Mooney will officiate. Pallbearers are Todd Hammer, Butch Bridges, Tommy Raley, Monty Milligan, Jerry Stanfield, and Mitch Terrell. Honorary Pallbearers include John Crisp, Ricky Stockard, Mike Moss, and Moris Castle.
Jimmy was born on December 25, 1933 to John Quitman, Sr. and Lena (Belew) Cox in Willow Springs. He was united in marriage to Wilda Cox on September 17, 2018 in Decatur. Jimmy was a barber and worked at Hanson as a Tower Operator for several years. He was a member of the Chico Masonic Lodge. Jimmy was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Quitman, Sr. and Lena Cox; his son, Tony Clayton Cox; 3 brothers, John Quitman Cox, Jr., Jack Cox, and Bill Cox; and his sister, Besty Cox.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Wilda Cox; his son, Robert Cox and wife Paula Diane; 4 step-sons, Roger Beasley, Jimmy Johnston, Tommy Johnston, and Curtis Beasley; 7 grandchildren, Amber Cox, Ashlie Aguilar, Travis Cox, Bonnie Kemnitz, Bradley Beasley, Joel Johnston, and Victoria Johnston; 4 great-grandchildren, DJ, Susanna, Gabriela, and Journey; his niece, Connie Cox Leaf along with other nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
