Paradise ~ Jimmy Loyd Carpenter, 83, a farmer, went to be with our Lord Saturday, June 25, 2016 in Decatur.
Funeral is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Pleasant View Baptist Church with burial in Thomas Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Hawkins Funeral Home.
Rev. Gary Demmitt will officiate. Pallbearers include Gary Green, Grady Cowling, Jim Duncan, Scotty Duncan, Dennis McMurry, and Donny Gillespie.
Jimmy was born on May 9, 1933 to Jim and Agnes (Martin) Carpenter in Bridgeport. He was united in marriage to Dean Cowan on November 15, 1952 in Bridgeport. Jimmy was a farmer and worked for Bridgeport Road Construction.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jackie Lynn Carpenter; and his brother, Harold “Red” Carpenter.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, Dean Carpenter of Bridgeport; his son, Bucky Carpenter and wife Eddi of Bridgeport; his daughter, Jennge Flowers and husband Mike of Bridgeport; his grandchildren, Jason Carpenter and wife Loren of Grapevine and Jamey Carpenter of Bridgeport; his great grandchildren, Brendan and Maddee; his brothers, Bobby Carpenter and wife Jeanetta of Chico and Jesse Paul Carpenter and wife Judy of Lake Bridgeport; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and a host of friends.
