CHICO -- Jimmy Ray Matney, 75, a retired heavy equipment operator went to be with our Lord on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009 in Chico.

Service: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hawkins Funeral Chapel. Burial: Jonestown Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Jerry A. Matney and Ben W. Matney will officiate. Pallbearers: Wayne Andreasen, Jim Plunkett, Howe McLean, Jake McLean, Don Baker, and Lloyd Beckworth. Honorary pallbearer: Corky McDaniel.

Jim was born on January 5, 1934, the son of Clyde A. and Audrey Faye (Minor) Matney in Decatur, Texas. He served his country as a fireman in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Jim married Jackie Dean Clements on April 19, 1955 in Grand Prairie.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years, Jackie Matney of Chico; sons, Randy M. Matney of Kerrville and Clyde G. Matney and wife Toni of Bridgeport; 4 grandchildren, William, Lisa Marie, Nicholas Ryan and Natasha; 2 great grandchildren; brothers, Jerry A. Matney of Surprise, Arizona, Ben W. Matney of Marble Falls, and S.J. "Bub" Matney of Bridgeporr; several nieces and nephews.
