Paradise ~ Jimmy Meyers, 71, of Paradise, formerly of Bridgeport, went to be with our Lord on Friday, July 26, 2024, in Paradise.
Memorial Service is 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 30th at First Methodist Church in Bridgeport. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Jimmy was born on June 13, 1953, to Howard Fredrick and Martha (Mott) Meyers in Dallas. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Janis Gayle Moore, on August 31, 1974, in Bridgeport. Jimmy retired from Ray Richey Oil and Gas as a lease operator. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and a friend to many that will miss him dearly.
Jimmy grew up as a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bridgeport. He served for 26 years on the Bridgeport City Council, where he was a dedicated advocate for his community. He helped people in need through fundraising and organizing charity events. He also served on the Bridgeport Country Club Board for many years. In 1998, he was honored with the Dr. Hunter Humanitarian Award for his unwavering support of all youth activities. His commitment to the community was evident in every endeavor he undertook. Jimmy was a very involved father and a dedicated husband, always prioritizing his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Fred Meyers; and his daughter-in-law Kelli Meyers.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 49 years, Janis Meyers; his daughter, Kristy Lynn Chapman and husband Kory of Decatur; his son, Luke Meyers; his grandchildren, Tyler Chapman, Landri Murphy, Cooper Meyers, Allie Murphy, Cason Meyers, Garrett Murphy, and Marisleyzie Martinez; his sisters, Cathy Blum and husband Tommy, Susie Anders and husband Jim; his sister-in-law, Cindy Meyers; his brother-in-law, David Moore and wife Lynn; many cousins, nieces, nephews, the classmates of the Bridgeport Class of '72, and countless friends.
