Boyd ~ Jimmy W. (Salty) Smith, 81, a retired employee of Bell Helicopter went to be with our Lord Saturday, December 20, 2013 in Decatur.
Funeral is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Boyd with burial in Pleasant Grove #2 Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Rev. Gary Sessions will officiate. Pallbearers include Randy Smith, Kenny Smith, Jimmy Smith, Corey Smith, Joshua Smith and Jared Smith. Honorary Pallbearers are Terry Solomon, Robert Demasses, Jeff Inman and Jeremy Smith.
Salty was born on March 11, 1932 to Ernest and Virginia (Terrell) Smith in Chico, Texas. He was a graduate of Chico High School and retired after 28 years of service with Bell Helicopter as a tool and dye maker.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Shirley who passed away in August of 1988 and his brother Kenneth Smith.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his sons; Randy Smith and wife Gayla of Ft. Worth, Kenny Smith and wife Laura of Boyd and Jimmy Smith and wife Julia of Boyd; his grandchildren, Corey, Jeremy, Joshua, Jared, and Sarah; 3 great grandchildren; his sister, Frances Garrison of Oklahoma; his brother, Darwin Smith of Bridgeport; his sister in law, Nita Merle Smith of Chico; nieces and nephews; other family members and a host of friends.
