J.M. Brooks

Funeral is 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Decatur with burial in Thomas Cemetery. Family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

Dr. Wm. Lewis will officiate. Pallbearers include Carl Fennell, Johnathan Fennell, Matt Bush, Cory Brooks Rendon, Gary Green, and Keven Herndon. Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Williams, Bud Buck, Alton Smith, Boy Smith and James Hodges.

J.M. was born on April 21, 1936 to John and Margaret (Hawkins) Brooks in Decatur. He was united in marriage to Barbara Mitchell on May 28, 1976 in Montague County. J.M. served his country in the United States Navy. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Decatur. J.M. was a mechanic at Brooks Truck Specialty.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Barbara Mitchell.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his daughters, Deneise Walker and husband Clay of Bridgeport, Julie Brooks of Fort Worth; his son, Ray Brooks of South Texas; his grandchildren, Ashley Bush and husband Matt, Cory Brooks Rendon, Maegan Flavin, Kaetlyn Flavin; great grandchild, Taylor Bush; other family members and a host of friends.
