Jo was born on June 30, 1948 to Ralph and Barbara (Jarome) Breuer in Quincy, Illinois. She married Terry L. Vernia in 1968 in Battle Creek, Michigan.

Jo is preceded in death by her parents; her son, Michael Breuer; her granddaughter, Sarah Starbird; and her sister, Dorothy Thompson.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband, Terry Vernia of Boyd; her daughter, Wendy Zupancic of Boyd; her grandchildren, Terry, Jesse, Michael, Pammie and Lacy; her sisters, Mary Mills and Ann Swank both of Battle Creek, Michigan.

We are sorry to hear of her passing. Jo Rae was the cook here at Friend's and Company in Battle Creek, Michigan where we all worked with her. She was here for about 23 years before moving south. She was kind hearted, a great cook, and always loved to hear funny jokes. To this day her meatloaf is still missed by many. Our thoughts and prayers are with you through this difficult time.
