NEWARK -- Modenia Joann Stone, 71, of Newark, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, October 4, 2007 at home surrounded by her family.
Service: 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Newark. Burial: Dido Cemetery. Visitation: 4-6 p.m. Sunday. Officiator: Rev. Dan Hunt. Pallbearers: Greg Spurgeon, Bobby Williams, Gregory Spurgeon, Taylor Spurgeon, Cary Stone, James Howard, Chris Stone, and Gayland Stone. Honorary Pallbearers: Mark Ashford and William Thompson.
Joann was born on March 3, 1936 in Davis, Oklahoma to John and Betha Woods. She was a homemaker. She married Tommy Stone on October 31, 1951 in Shamrock. Her greatest joys in life were her children and her beloved grandchildren. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Newark and a member of the Newark Senior Citizens.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Tommy Stone, her sister, Bernice Taylor, and brothers, Jack, Bobby, and Woody Woods.
Survivors: sons, Mike Stone and wife Linda of Haltom City, Gayland Stone of Fort Worth; daughters, Tanya Howard and husband James of Alvarado, Cathy Spurgeon and husband Greg of Newark; grandchildren, Shelly, Charla, Chris, Amanda, Bobby, Whitney, Gregory, Cary, Taylor, Emily, Tommy, and Garrett; great grandchildren, Jacob, Carson, Cailee, Caylee, and Alyssa; sisters, Sugar Moose of Amarillo, June Ogle of Richardson; and brother, Roy Woods of Amarillo.
