Joe Cody Hale

Decatur ~ Joe Cody Hale, 95, went to be with our Lord Friday, December 27, 2019 in Decatur.

Funeral is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at Cornerstone Baptist Church with burial in Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.

Rev. Ron Fox will officiate. Pallbearers include Steven Terrell, Cody Hale, Rusty Terrell, Casey Hale, Cheyenne Redwine and Laramie Redwine. Honorary pallbearers are Glenn Rhine, Foy Mitchell, Sam McClure and Ron Shipp.

Joe was born on June 12, 1924 to Benjamin Franklin and Ella Katherine (Hudson) Hale in Decatur, Texas. He was united in marriage to Desda Berniece Rawle on July 13, 1947 in Decatur. Joe retired from Mitchell Energy as a Production Foreman. He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Decatur and served as a deacon for many years.  Joe served in the United States Army from 1944 to 1946. He was stationed in Europe during World War II.  Joe loved spending time in the outdoors hunting and fishing with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, B.F. Hale, Jr., Leroy Hale, Pete Hale and Marco Hale; sisters, Lou Bowling, Jane Cearley, Inez Rodgers, and Joyce Horton.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 72 years, Berniece Hale of Decatur; his son, Ronnie Hale and wife Tonya of Decatur, his daughters, Glenda Terrell and husband Rodney of Decatur, Connie Redwine and husband Tony of Decatur; his grandchildren, Steven Terrell and wife Jennifer of Decatur, Rusty Terrell and wife Amber of Granbury, Cheyenne Redwine of Decatur, Laramie Redwine of Decatur, Cody Hale and wife Crystal of Decatur, Casey Hale and wife Taylor of Decatur; his great grandchildren, Reid and Gage Terrell, Zane, Allie and Cassidy Terrell, Tyler,Hunter, Carson and Cason Hale, and Kylie and Kellan Hale; sisters Patt Spoede of Decatur and Lois Davidson of Rockdale; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
