Joe Edd Turlington

Funeral is 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 26th at the First Baptist Church in Alvord with Rev. Charles Reed officiating. Interment: Alvord Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.

Pallbearers include Bert Caraway, Bill Lewis, Keith Pittman, Curtis Pittman, Melton Neighbors, Glen Trachta, Wayne Trachta and Jimmy Looney. Honorary pallbearer is Hack Holt.

Joe was born on December 16, 1947 in Mineola, Texas to Wilbur David and Jean (Brown) Turlington. He was united in marriage to Vickie Smith in Las Vegas, Nevada. Joe served in the U.S. Army.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 13 years, Vickie Turlington of Decatur; 3 sons, Zack Turlington and wife Cheryl of Decatur, Joe Turlington of Bowie, and James Miller and wife Jenifer of Justin; 6 grandchildren, Brittany, Tanner, Brooke, Chloe, Katie and Hannah; 5 brothers, James David, Jon, Troy, Willie and Raymond Turlington; 3 sisters, Jeanne Greenawalt, Linda Phelps, and Patricia Payne; stepmother, Grace Turlington; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Zachary David Turlington.

Vicki, not sure if you remember me but I was Joe's sister-in-law that was married to Keith. I loved Joe so very much and even though we didn't see much of each other in the past few years he will always still be in my heart. I loved him very much.
