Rhome ~ John Thomas Livengood, Jr 91 passed away April 20, 2018.
Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Rhome Church of Christ with burial at Aurora Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Decatur.
John was born in Paradise, TX December 21, 1926 to John and Leola (Coffman) Livengood. He was a lifelong member of the Rhome Church of Christ where he served as both a Bible School Teacher and Elder.
John served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a radioman, stationed in Guam. He graduated from TCU in Fort Worth and was employed as a Design Engineer for General Dynamics for 41 years and retired in 1992.
He never stopped wanting to learn new things or fix old things and was always an engineer at heart. He loved traveling, playing bridge, fishing, ranching and visiting with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Lou (Slay) Livengood, daughter Molly (Livengood) Carter, parents, brother Zollie Livengood, sisters Thelma Young and Peggy Baker.
Survivors: Wife, Jo Ann Coffman Livengood, daughter Annie Livengood Watkins and husband Brent, step-sons Scott Coffman and wife Patricia, Steven Coffman and wife Catherine, Bruce Coffman and wife Kerry, son-in-law Randy Carter and wife Janice, grandchildren Kelli Carter, Carly Cooksey, Jordan Hughes, Hannah Sneed, Haley Wagoner, Hope, Chance, Chaney, Suzanne and Alexander Coffman.
