BRIDGEPORT: John Carlos Pitts 83, life long resident of Wise County and retired welder for Acme Brick went to be with our Lord Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008 in Bridgeport, Texas

Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Willow Point Cemetery. Family visitation: 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hawkins Funeral Home. The Reverend Ben Lisby will officiate with music provided by Mark Sanders and Jerry and Beverly Lindsey.

Pallbearers: Steve Pitts, Jason Sanders, Rowdy Payton, Cody Bryant, Mark Sanders, Scotty Ford and honorary pallbearer Kevin Hollis.

Born June 30, 1925 to Everett Wilson and Myrtle Ione (Morgan) Pitts in Vineyard, Texas. Carlos proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was well known for his love of fishing and being the smoothest waltz partner at the dance. Carlos was lovingly called Pop by both family and friends. He enjoyed having everyone gather at his home on the lake. He was also a member of the Bible Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 26 years, Bobbie Pitts, parents, son Stephen Carlos Pitts, and sisters Virgie Mae Gammage and Norma Jean Mills.

Left behind to cherish his memory is his son, Joe Morgan of Mineral Wells; daughters, Rhonda McIlroy of Cottondale, Jayne Pitts of Bridgeport and Connie Wood of Paradise; the mother of his children, Rumell Culps of Paradise; step-daughters Patti Madewell and husband Tommy, Pam Martin, Lisa Valiant and Paula Geiser; 10 Grandchildren, Bryann McIlroy, Steve Pitts, Brandi Ford, Jason Sanders, Joey Harrelson, Rowdy Payton, April Smith, LaDusta Williams, Cody Bryant and Mark Sanders; 8 step-grandchildren, Shanda Smith, Douglas Worthington, Dack Crenshaw, Ashley Madewell, Austin Madewell, Chase Valiant, Channing Valiant and Dory Geiser; 15 great-grandchildren and 7 step-great grandchildren; his brother, Clarence Lee Pitts and wife Elaine of Wizard Wells; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
