Decatur: John Alvin Ransom, 92, a farmer/rancher, went to be with our Lord Sunday, June 27, 2010 in Decatur.
Funeral service: 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Charles Taylor and Jack Watson officiating. Interment: Bethel Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Pallbearers include Harold Moore, Steve White, Glenn Romines, Tommy Romines, Alvin Taylor, and Paul Watson.
John was born March 25, 1918 in Wise County, Texas to John and Dora Dill Ransom. He married Lillie Romines on February 26, 1949 in Decatur, Texas.
Left behind to cherish his memory are wife of 62 years, Lillie Ransom of Decatur; daughter, Dorothy Etter of California; son, Jerry Ransom and wife, Linda of Decatur; two granddaughters, Nickie Bishop and Carrie Waddill; two grandsons, Bradley and Brian Etter; five great grandsons, Benjamin Waddill, Ryan, Carson and Levi Etter; great granddaughter, McKenna Waddill.
John is preceded in death by his daughter, Beverly Bishop; five brothers and four sisters.
