Bridgeport~ John Salazar, Sr., 68, went to be with or Lord on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 in Decatur.
Funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 15, 2020 at Twin Oaks Assembly of God with burial in the Mexican Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday, August 14, at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.
Rev. Jerry Tedder will officiate. Pallbearers are to include Alex Sessions, Johnny Davilla, Robert Vidal, Gilbert Moncibaiz, Austin Culwell, Chris Martinez, Derrick Creek, and Jason Dyer.
John was born on November 6, 1951 to Guadalupe and Mary Sue (Casillas) Salazar in Bridgeport, Texas. He worked for Blue Star Aggregate as a loader operator. John loved sitting outside in his chair with his grandson Ray, The Dallas Cowboys, UT Football, and his most favorite thing to do was have fun and spend time with those he loved. He cherished his family and friends. John was a beloved Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, and Friend to many.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, John Salazar, Jr.; his sisters, Emily Vidal and Gloria Martinez.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his daughters, Sophia Salazar of Bridgeport and Julia Salazar of Chico; his sons, Pete Salazar, Enos Salazar, John Salazar III all of Bridgeport, and Jacob Salazar of Decatur; 30 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Tommy, Jr., and Wally Salazar; his sisters, Sally Salazar, Julie Torres, and Tina Orosco; numerous nieces, nephews, and many extended family members and a host of good friends.
