BOYD -- John Reed Sanders, 86, a retired butcher, went to be with our Lord Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, in Decatur.
Memorial service: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Boyd. Rev. Dale Noska and Rev. Charles Pugh will officiate.
John was born the son of Reed and Della (Luttrell) Sanders on Feb. 27,1923 in Clarenton,Texas.
He served his country proudly by serving in the Navy during WW11. He was a member of and a former Sunday school director at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church for 55 years.
John was preceded in death by: Daughter, Debra Sanders; brother,Arthur Sanders; and the Mother of his children,Gloria Sanders Kemp.
Those left behind to cherish his memory: son, Johnny Sanders and wife Patricia of Boyd; daughters, Rita Elliott and husband John of Decatur, Vera Rasco and husband Bruce of Paradise, Gloria Gray of Bridgeport; grandchildren: Jason, Joseph, and Dianna Sanders, and Amanda Rasco; great grandson, Joseph Slayton Hilyard; numerous other family members and a host of friends.
