John was born on October 4, 1939 in Shreveport, Louisana to Milton and Nellie (Vascoe) Summers. He married Pam Engelhart on October 3, 1998 in Shreveport, Louisana. John retired from the City of Bosier City and moved to Decatur four years ago.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 10 years, Pam Summers of Decatur; daughter, Dondi Dillon and husband, Ken of Decatur; two grandsons, Ritchie and Scott Stacey; cousin, George Horton and wife, Beth of Azle; numerous other family members and a host of friends.
John is preceded in death by his parents.
