RUNAWAY BAY -- John William Tibbs, 72, a radio officer in the Merchant Marines, died Tuesday, March 21, 2006 in Dallas. Funeral: 2 p.m. Friday at Hawkins Funeral Chapel. Burial: Eternal Oaks Cemetery. Mr. Tibbs was born January 2, 1934 in Ft. Necessity, LA to Milton and Laura Tibbs. He was a U.S. Army and Airforce Veteran and a member of First Baptist Church of Runaway Bay. Survivors: Sons, John Tibbs, Jr. of Runaway Bay, Christopher Tibbs and wife, Deanna of Rockwall, and Kenneth Tibbs of Russelville, AK; daughters, Bonnie Cherico and husband, Forrest of Austin and Beverly Tibbs of Runaway Bay; and 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
