Decatur: Johnny Martin Lewis, 80, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, June 16, 2009.
Funeral service is 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 19th at the Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with Drs. Van Gardner and Bill Hughes officiating. Interment will follow the service at Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Stanley Kemp, Steve Hunt, Steve Hillard, Johnny Wall, Mike Sanford, and Bill Whiddon.
Johnny was born October 15, 1928 in Logan County, West Virginia to Leonard and Doris (Sexton) Lewis. He married Ella Ardena "Boots" Browning on January 28, 1950 in Phoenix City, Alabama. Johnny served 28 years in the United States Army during World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He retired from the United States Post Office after 15 years of service. Johnny was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Decatur, a 50 year member in the Masonic Lodge, a member of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans, Wise County Veterans Group, and the Decatur Rock and Fossil Club.
