Bridgeport~ Jonathan Gonzalez, 17, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, October 1st, 2022 in Decatur.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 8th, 2022 at St. John the Baptizer Catholic Church in Bridgeport with burial to follow in East Bridgeport Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.
Jonathan was born on November 23, 2004 to Jose Dolores Gonzalez and Maria Natalia Lopez in Gainesville, Georgia. He was a student at Bridgeport High School. Jonathan’s favorite sport was baseball, he was a huge Texas Rangers Fan, and he loved the color purple. He participated in baseball and football for the Bridgeport Bulls. Jonathan moved from Fort Worth to Bridgeport in 2014 with his family and once he got to Bridgeport, he met many friends and teammates and was instantly very well- liked by the other students and teachers. Jonathan was a great student who worked hard on his grades to get a scholarship for college. His dream was to go to auto mechanic school and he did get to achieve the goal of being accepted to UTI. Jonathan was a beloved son, step-son, brother, cousin, friend, and more who will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his mother, Maria Lopez of Bridgeport; his father, Jose Gonzalez of Bridgeport; his step-dad, Martin Hernandez; his sisters, Keyly Gonzalez and Emily Hernandez; his brothers, Romeo Hernandez and Aaron Hernandez; numerous extended family members, teammates, and many good friends.

La misa de entierro cristiano será a las 11:00 a.m. del sábado 8 de octubre de 2022 en la Iglesia Católica St. John the Baptizer en Bridgeport con entierro en el cementerio East Bridgeport. La familia recibirá a sus amigos de 6 a 8 p.m. Viernes con Rosario a las 7:00 p.m. en Hawkins Funeral Home en Bridgeport.
Jonathan nació el 23 de noviembre de 2004 de José Dolores González y María Natalia López en Gainesville, Georgia. Fue estudiante en Bridgeport High School. El deporte favorito de Jonathan era el béisbol, era un gran fanático de los Rangers de Texas y le encantaba el color púrpura. Participó en béisbol y fútbol americano para los Bridgeport Bulls. Jonathan se mudó de Fort Worth a Bridgeport en 2014 con su familia y una vez que llegó a Bridgeport, conoció a muchos amigos y compañeros de equipo y al instante fue muy querido por los otros estudiantes y maestros. Jonathan fue un gran estudiante que trabajó duro en sus calificaciones para obtener una beca para la universidad. Su sueño era ir a la escuela de mecánica automotriz y logró el objetivo de ser aceptado en UTI. Jonathan era un hijo amado, hijastro, hermano, primo, amigo y más que será extrañado por todos los que lo conocieron y lo amaron.
Quienes se quedan atrás para atesorar su memoria son su madre, María López de Bridgeport; su padre, José González de Bridgeport; su padrastro, Martín Hernández; sus hermanas, Keyly González y Emily Hernández; sus hermanos, Romeo Hernández y Aarón Hernández; numerosos miembros de la familia extendida, compañeros de equipo y muchos buenos amigos.
