Jose Nicolas "Nico" Serrano Jimenez

Jose Nicolas “Nico” Serrano-Jimenez, 74, went to be with the Lord Sunday, April 28, 2024 at his home in Decatur, Texas.

Nico was born October 18, 1949 to Jesus A. Serrano and Lutgarda J. Serrano in Guanajuato, Mexico.  He was united in marriage to Maria DeLeon Sotelo on December 18, 2004 in Decatur and retired as a baker from Kroger.  Nico enjoyed architectural design, drawing, watching sports, taking his dog Estrella out for walks, and spending time with the grandchildren. Nico was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to many who will miss him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesus A. Serrano and Lutgarda J. Serrano; and a brother, Armando J. Serrano.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 20 years, Maria DeLeon Sotelo of Decatur; his children, Jose Nicholas Serrano Jr, Alejandra Serrano, Abraham Serrano, and Sebastian Serrano Sotelo; his step-children Ramiro DeLeon Jr, Veronica Mares, Maria Isabel Ruiz, David DeLeon, and Ruby DeLeon.

Other survivors include his brothers Jesus J. Serrano, Manuel J. Serrano; sisters Consuelo S. De Merino, and Leticia Hadley; many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Jose Nicolas “Nico” Serrano-Jimenez, de 74 años, fue a estar con el Señor el Domingo 28 de abril del 2024 en Decatur, Texas.

Nico nació el 18 de octubre del 1949 en Guanajuato, Mexico, hijo de Jesus A. Serrano y Lutgarda J. Serrano.  Fue unido en matrimonio el 18 de diciembre del 2004 con Maria DeLeon Sotelo y se jubiló de Kroger donde fue panadero. A Nico le justaba diseño de arquitectura, dibujar, ver deportes, sacar a su mascota Estrella a caminar, y pasar tiempo con los nietos y nietas. Nico fue un querido esposo, padre, abuelo, hermano, tío, primo, y amigo a muchos que lo extrañaran.

Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres, Jesus A. Serrano y Lutgarda J. Serrano; y hermano, Armando J. Serrano.

Los que se quedaron atrás para atesorar su memoria son su esposa de 20 años, Maria DeLeon Sotelo de Decatur; sus hijos, Jose Nicholas Serrano Jr, Abraham Serrano, y Sebastian Serrano Sotelo; hija Alejandra Serrano; sus hijastros Ramiro DeLeon Jr, Veronica Mares, Maria Isabel Ruiz, David DeLeon, y Ruby DeLeon.

Otros sobrevivientes incluyen sus hermanos Jesus J. Serrano, Manuel J. Serrano; hermanas Consuelo S. De Merino y Leticia Hadley; muchos nietos, nietas, sobrinos y sobrinas.
