Joseph Aaron Cheatham

Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 25th at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home with Reverend Jerry Miller officiating. Interment: Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.

Pallbearers include, Ken Cheatham, Bob Cheatham, Ken Thompson, Eddie Lynn Cheatham, Darwin Cheatham,Bill Crow and Dwight Dodson.

Joseph was born April 4, 1923 in Chillicothe, Texas to Walter L. and Lee Anis (Davis) Cheatham. He married Carolyn Joy Bricker on April 25, 2003 in Decatur, Texas. Joseph retired from Gulf Insurance Group as an insurance underwriter. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was a member of Faith Baptist Church.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Carolyn Cheatham of Decatur; son, Joseph Aaron Cheatham, Jr. of Calvert, Texas; two grandsons, Chris and Michael Cheatham; two daughters, Carrie Hill and Ashley Cheatham; 14 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Joseph is preceded in death by five sisters, three brothers, and first wife, Dorothy Cheatham.

We haven't talked in a long time, just about since high school, but I thought some day you might find that I tried to contact you when I found out about your dad. I know this happened over a year ago now, but it's never too late to say you're sorry when you hear about someone's loss.
