Funeral service is 1 p.m. Friday, February 19th at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with Reverends Ray Cobb and Bob Danley officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers include, Steve Godbey, Robert Underwood, Tim Matyjewicz, Tim VanderWal, Jim Hicks, and Bill Plowman.
Joy was born March 4, 1936 in Decatur to Samuel Paul and Hazel Gladys Cheek Rose. She married Billy Morgan Godbey in 1970 in Fort Worth and was married 17 years at his death in 1987. Joy retired from the State of Texas as an administrative assistant. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Haltom City.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Sam Godbey of Fort Worth; mother, Hazel Mooney of Decatur; two sisters, Paula Ellis of Weatherford, Cherrie Townsend and husband, Steve of Hurst; brother, Richard Rose of McKinney; step-daughter, Suzie Dick and husband, Rusty of Denison; grandchildren, Josh and Emily Godbey, Bill and James Dick; four great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
