Joy Ruth Piper

Graveside service: 1 p.m. Friday in Aurora Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Joy was born on March 19, 1923, the daughter of Willie Ball and Hattie Belle (Webb) Gartrell, in Dallas. She married Joseph Frank Piper on April 25, 1942, in Fort Worth. Joy was an artist and she loved her roses. She was known as "The Rose Lady Of Parker County". She was a member of the Christway Baptist Church.

Joy was preceded in death by her parents, W.B. and Hattie Piper.

Those left behind to cherish her memory: her Husband of 68 years, Joseph Piper of Rhome; sons, Joseph Rodney Piper and wife, Trudy of Lebenon, Tennessee, Olon Gartrell Piper and wife, Sarrah of Newark, Billy Franz Piper and wife, Delores of Haltom City; grandchildren, Vicky, Lindsey, Jon, Deanna, Kathy, Frank; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Collin; sisters, Louise Gartrell of Athens, Joan Swinford of Fort Worth, Mary Rivers of Haltom City; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Joy was our country neighbor for several years. We enjoyed our friendship and spent many hours visiting. We were the recipient of her lovely roses many times. It was a blessing to know her. She loved the Lord and never hesitated to say so. Her husband and sons and their families were the pride of her life. Our prayers are with you.
