Joyce Kennedy Bailey

Mesquite ~ Joyce Kennedy Bailey, 94, went to be with our Lord Tuesday, on her 94th birthday, October 3, 2023 in Mesquite.

Graveside service will be 12:30 p.m. Monday at East Bridgeport Cemetery. Family will receive friends at 11a.m. at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

Joyce was born on October 3, 1929 to James Arthur and Linnie Leah (Albritton) Kennedy in Bridgeport. She was united in marriage to Cecil Bailey on August 14, 1948 in Weatherford. Joyce was an Insurance Account Analyst for several years and attended both Bridgeport High School, and Decatur Baptist College. Joyce was a beloved mother, grandmother of 3 generations, sister, and a friend to many that will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Bailey; her parents; her brothers, Weldon and Bedford Kennedy; her sister, Mildred Crowder; and her grandson, Eric Don Hoeft.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Brenda Bailey of Mesquite and Linda Barr and husband David of Dallas; her granddaughter, Lauren Hoeft of Mesquite; her grandsons, Scott Hoeft of Mesquite and Aaron Barr of Dallas; her great-granddaughter, Ally Woodruff; her great-great-granddaughter, Ryan Woodruff; and numerous nieces and nephews of which she was very fond of.
