Decatur ~ Juan Chavez, 73, went to be with our Lord Monday, November 21, 2022.

Mass of Christian Burial is 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Decatur with burial at Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur with Rosary at 7:00 p.m.

Father Anto Caloose will officiate. Pallbearers include Hector Garcia, Felipe Garcia, Sergio Sanchez, Sr, Sergio Sanchez, Jr.,  Alberto Chavez, Jr., and Axsel Chavez.

Juan was born July 19, 1949 to Francisco and Juana (Rodriguez) Chavez in Palmas Atlas, Jerez, Mexico. He united in marriage on December 29, 1971 to Lorena Gallegos in El Refugio, Ojacaliente, Zac. Juan was a machinist for Imperial Fabricating for over 33 years in the metal fabrication industry. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Francisco and Juana Chavez; his brothers, Pedro, Alberto, and Marcelino Chavez; a sister, Juana Fernandez; and his son, Alberto Chavez.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Lorena Chavez of Decatur; his son, Juan Pablo Chavez of Mexico; his daughters, Silva Sanchez of Decatur, Esmeralda Garcia of Decatur, and Amanda Garcia of Rhome; a brother, Victor Chavez, Sr.; a sister, Gabriela Hernandez of Decatur; 9 grandchildren, Paulina, Sergio, Axsel, Aly, Sadie, Monse, Leo, Ben, and Lucas; numerous extended family members and a host of friends.

La misa de entierro cristiano es a las 11:00 a.m. el miércoles 23 de noviembre de 2022 en la Iglesia Católica Asunción de la Santísima Virgen María en Decatur con entierro en el cementerio de Oaklawn. La familia recibirá a sus amigos de 6 a 8 p.m. Martes en Hawkins Funeral Home en Decatur con Rosario a las 7:00 p.m.

El Padre Anto Caloose oficiará. Los portadores del féretro incluyen a Héctor García, Felipe García, Sergio Sánchez, Sr, Sergio Sánchez, Jr., Alberto Chávez, Jr. y Axsel Chávez.

Juan nació el 19 de julio de 1949, hijo de Francisco y Juana (Rodríguez) Chávez en Palmas Atlas, Jerez, México. Se unió en matrimonio el 29 de diciembre de 1971 con Lorena Gallegos en El Refugio, Ojacaliente, Zac. Juan fue maquinista de Imperial Fabricating durante más de 33 años en la industria de fabricación de metales. Fue un amado esposo, padre, hermano, abuelo, tío y amigo para muchos que lo extrañarán mucho.

Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres, Francisco y Juana Chávez; sus hermanos, Pedro, Alberto y Marcelino Chávez; una hermana, Juana Fernández; y su hijo, Alberto Chávez.

Los que quedan atrás para apreciar su memoria son su esposa, Lorena Chávez de Decatur; su hijo, Juan Pablo Chávez de México; sus hijas, Silva Sánchez de Decatur, Esmeralda García de Decatur y Amanda García de Rhome; un hermano, Víctor Chávez, Sr.; una hermana, Gabriela Hernández de Decatur; 9 nietos, Paulina, Sergio, Axsel, Aly, Sadie, Monse, Leo, Ben y Lucas; numerosos miembros de la familia extendida y una gran cantidad de amigos.
