Graveside service is 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Alvord Cemetery, Alvord, Texas, with Reverend Gerre Joiner officiating. Family visitation is 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Juanita was born May 9, 1917 in Oklahoma to Festus and Della Wallis Champion. She moved to Alvord at the age of one and she graduated as valedictorian from Alvord High School. During World War II, she worked at Convair, delivering paperwork and even large aircraft parts on her bicycle, and doing office work, as well. In 1953, she moved to Hurst, Texas, and later worked as a pharmacy tech at Rich's Pharmacy, a dispatcher for Allied Termite and then for several years at a Hallmark card shop. A friend to all she met, she loved spending time with her family and was happiest when surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, F.A. and Della Champion; brothers, John Champion and Wallis Champion; sister, Deane Rowe; niece, Donna Champion and granddaughter, Sherry Tice Norris.
Survived by sons, Lynn and Jerry Tice both of Hurst; daughter, Janis Dunlap and husband, Al of Bedford; grandchildren, Tamara White, Ron Tice and wife, Donna, Colin and Preston Tice, Brian Dunlap and wife, Barbara, and Todd Dunlap; great grandchildren, Morgan and Cody Norris, Laura, Thomas and Anna Dunlap; sisters-in-law Juanita and Betty Champion; nephew Ron Champion; and niece Martha Norman.
Family would like to thank all the staff and volunteers at Legend Healthcare and Vitas Hospice for their faithful care of Juanita.
