Judith "JJ" Brooks, loving wife, mother of four, grandmother of ten and great-grandmother of two, passed away at the age of 61.

Celebration of Life will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 17, 2020 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Chico Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

Scott Rackley will officiate. Pallbearers are to include John Brooks, Rick Jackson, Dale Morey, Danny Price, Eric Miles, Eric Branch, Will Brooks, Wyatt Brooks, James McArthur, and Jerrod Belew.

Judy, was born on June 28, 1959 in Sodus, NY to Theodore and Janice Shove. She was raised in Chico, TX where she met the love of her life, William ‘Bill’ Brooks. Judy and Bill married on August 31, 1979 at the First Baptist Church in Chico. Over the next 7 years, they welcomed four children into this world: Cynthia, John, Catherine and Cara.

Judy had a love of literature, traveling, going to the casino, and most importantly, an abundance of love for her grandchildren; Meredith, Samantha, Eric, Marissa, Emma, Will, Alissa, Sydney, Kayla, and Wyatt.

Judy was preceded in death by her father, Ted; her mother, Jan; her sister, Cindy; her nephew, Chad; and her grandsons, Walton and Walter.

She is survived by her husband Bill, her four children and their families, Cynthia and Rick Jackson, their children, Marissa and Alissa Jackson; her son John and his children, Meredith and James McArthur and great-granddaughter, Maddilynn, Will, Kayla and Wyatt; her daughter, Catherine and Dale Morey, their children, Samantha, and great-grandson, Henry, Eric, Emma and Sydney;  her daughter Cara and Jerrod Belew; her sister Jan Mathews. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

The family would like to thank all of those who have expressed their love and support during Judy’s battle with cancer.
