Karen Hornsby

Chico ~ Karen Hornsby, 74, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, December 6, 2023 in Chico.

Graveside is 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 14, at Chico Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

Karen was born on March 14, 1949 to Lyle and Lois (Craft) Leonard in Clinton, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Ron Hornsby on November 26, 1969 in Comanche, Iowa. Karen was the librarian at the Chico public library and was awarded the citizen of the year in 2015. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and a friend to many that will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Barb Hebner; and her stepmother, Melba.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 54 years, Ron Hornsby; her son, Russell Hornsby and wife Lorenda of Chico; her daughter, Yolinda Greeson and husband Scott of New Fairview; her grandchildren, Cydnee, Bailey, and Dusti Hornsby, Sean and Emilee Greeson; her sisters, Susan Eagle, Kathy Blodig, and Barb Baty; her brothers, Larry and Jim Leonard; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
