Newark ~ Katherine Johnston, 91, a homemaker, went to be with our Lord Thursday, February 9, 2017 in Azle.
Graveside service is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Aurora Cemetery. Open visitation is 5-9 p.m. Friday at Hawkins Funeral Home Boyd.
Bro. Mike Boaldin will officiate.
Katherine was born on July 31, 1925 to Glen and Velma (Splawn) Gargis. She was united in marriage to Everett Johnston in October 1942 in Fort Worth.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a long time resident of Newark and a member of Boyd Church of Christ.
Katherine was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Everett Johnston; her daughter, Sarah June (Junie) Johnston Crownover and son-in-law, David Crownover; her sister, Earnestine Taylor; and her parents.
She is survived by her sons, Don Johnston and wife Ruby of Azle and Steve Johnston and wife Angela of Newark; four grandchildren, Cylinda Chaisson and husband Andy, Michael Crownover and wife Christy, Joseph Johnston and Sarah Bonaduci, Amanda Johnston; five great-grandchildren, Drew, Junie, Nikki, Carter, and Elijah.
