Alvord ~ Katie Lynn Vance, 8, a student, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, September 23rd, 2015 in Fort Worth.

Funeral service is 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 26, 2015, at First Baptist Church in Alvord with burial at Alvord Cemetery in Alvord, Texas. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral home.

Bro Bill Cleveland will officiate. Pallbearers include Kenson Vance IV, Wyatt Lindley, Jacob Mueller, and Victor Wilson.

Katie had a relapse of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on August 10th.  Because of the chemo she did not do well and was placed on an ECMO (artificial lung) on September 7th, 2015.  She was the first Oncology patient with Downs Syndrome to be placed on this machine at Cook Childrens Hospital.  Her heart gave out and now she is in the Lord’s loving arms. Katie was born February 9th, 2007 in Fort Worth, Texas.  She was a student in Andrea Smith’s class in Bridgeport for three years.  Katie loved fries, pizza, Peppa Pig, her big Bubba Kenson, riding her pony and running around having fun.

Katie is survived by her father, Kenson Vance III; her mother, Brenda Vance; her brother, Kenson Vance IV; her grandma, (Mo) Linda Cullers; her granddaddy, Kenson Vance Jr.; her grammy, Wanda Vance; many aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.

She is preceded in death by her grandpa, William Lynn Cullers; her great grandparents, Lloyd and Vada Ellen Jacks, Floyd W. and Eva Cullers, Noel Edward and Mable Heard, Kenson Reeves Sr., and Louise Vance (GiGi).
