Bridgeport ~ Kenneth Calvin McCarty Sr., 91, a retired college professor, went to be with our Lord Monday, October 10, 2016 in Decatur.
Funeral is 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Bridgeport with burial in Greenwood Cemetery in Weatherford. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Speakers are Dudley McCarty and Scott McCarty. Pallbearers include Tanner Hapeman, T.J. McCarty, Hunter McCarty, Austin McCarty, Forrest McCarty, and Logan McCarty.
Kenneth was born on March 16, 1925 to Samuel and Victoria (Fant) McCarty in Merigold, Mississippi. He was united in marriage to Frances Iona Dudley on April 13, 1946 in Hinds County, Mississippi. Kenneth proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Force. He earned a master’s degree in education and was a government professor at Weatherford Junior College, Miami Dade Junior College, Tarrant County Junior College, and Northlake Community College.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 70 years, Frances Iona McCarty; his sister, Ocie Davis; his brothers, Bonnie, Alvin, Spurgin, Doyle and J.N. McCarty.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his sons, Kenneth “Calvin” McCarty Jr., of Bridgeport, Scott McCarty and wife Laura of Ponder, Thomas McCarty and wife Eloise of Clayton, Oklahoma; his grandchildren, Wendy, Brandy, T. J., Austin, Logan, Hunter, Jenny, and Forrest; 5 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
