Kyle "Tooter" Fletcher, 90, of Slidell, went to be with our Lord, Saturday, November 9, 2013 in Slidell, Texas.

Funeral is 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 13th at the First Baptist Church in Slidell with Reverends Bobby Cates and Gerre Joiner officiating, along with his grandson Eric Fletcher. Interment: Slidell Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.

Pallbearers include David Wilson, Jack Sandford, Wes Fowler, Glen Cassidy, Johnny Zuniga, Strike Franklin, Danny Taylor and Bodie Cole. Honorary pallbearers include Charles Montgomery, Steve Balthrop, Ronnie Hickerson, Reggie Hickerson, Bert Pruett, Bill Davis, Bill Taylor and Steve Pruett.

Tooter, was born September 15, 1923 in Slidell, Texas to James Hugh and Myrtle Mae (Amyx) Fletcher. He was united in marriage to Mayme Lou Lasater on June 26, 1943 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Tooter was enlisted into the U.S. Army, 7th Army 3rd Division in 1944. He was trained in Fort Hood, Texas and was deployed overseas to Germany and France where he entered into combat during World War II. Tooter received the Campaign Ribbon with three Bronze Stars, Bronze Star 3rd Infantry Division, Good Conduct Medal, Army of Occupation Medal-Germany, Victory Ribbon and three overseas service bars, Combat Infantry Man badge, Army Presidential outstanding unit citation with two Bronze Clusters, the French Four Ragere, along with others. Upon his return home, Tooter went into the feed and trucking business. He was owner of Fletcher Feed Mill & Trucking for 63 years.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 70 years, Mayme Lou Fletcher; son, Tim Fletcher and wife Darlene; two grandsons, Eric Fletcher and wife Brandy and Chris Fletcher and wife Courtney; two granddaughters, Camille Franklin and Bridget Knight and husband David all of Slidell; four great-grandsons, Halen, Jaxsyn, Zhakry and Bralyn Fletcher; five great-granddaughters, Camryn and Carley Franklin, Mylee and Macklyn Fletcher and Kynslee Knight; sister, Bobbie Ruth Cantrell of Gainesville; foster son's wife, Maurine Lovejoy and children, Weldon Lovejoy and Dana Kilburn and her son, Tyler; other family members and a host of friends.

Tooter was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, G.H., Hugh D. and Jack Fletcher; sisters, Hazel, Juanell Schertz and Wanda Wood; and foster son, Wayne Lovejoy.
