Larry Wayne Stevens

Decatur ~ Larry Wayne Stevens, 74, of Decatur went to be with our Lord Sunday, June 13, 2021.

Funeral is 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 18, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Decatur with burial at Greenwood Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.

Dr. David Lowrie will officiate. Pallbearers include Phil Ryan, Joe Bert Roberts, Billy Shanklin, Tony Smith, Kenneth McCauley, and Tom Goode.

Larry was born June 1, 1947 to Vernon and Viola (Fowler) Stevens in Portland, Tennessee. He was united in marriage December 26, 2000 to Joyce Brown in Prairie Point, Texas.  Larry proudly served our country in the United States Army, deployed to Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Larry was retired from Peterbilt after many years as a quality control manager. He was a beloved husband, father, “Pa”grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend to many who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 brothers.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 20 years, Joyce Stevens of Decatur; his son, Mark Stevens and wife Theresa of Kentucky; his daughter, Melissa Gutzman and husband Dan of Tennessee; 2 grandchildren, Caleb Stevens and Katherine McCraken; 1 great-grandchild, Emily Rose Stevens; son, Bradley Brown and wife Becky of Alvord; daughters, Carol Brown of Brownwood, and Anita Linder and husband Les of Decatur; grandchildren, Brooke Brown, Braydan Brown, Brailee Brown, Courtney Hair, Nathan Linder, and Nichols Linder; great-grandchildren, Gentry Hair, Dally Hair, Maddox Hair, Avery Linder, and Collin Linder; his 4 sisters, Anna Hurt, Bonnie King-Myatt, Pat Pidde, and Connie Perdue; his brother, Glen Stephens; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
