Laura M. (Escobar) Rueda

Rhome ~ Laura M. Rueda, 47, went to be with our Lord Sunday, May 12, 2019, in Decatur.

Funeral is 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 16, 2019, at First Baptist Church Bridgeport. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

Dr. Craig Erb will officiate. Honorary pallbearers are Laura’s Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church in Bridgeport.

Laura was born June 5, 1971, to Jesus and Nubia (Manrrique) Escobar in Colombia. She was united in marriage October 20, 2000 to Jorge Rueda in Davie County, Florida. Laura was a member of First Baptist Church Bridgeport and Delta Kappa Gamma Teachers Organization.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Jesus Escobar; and her sister, Gisela Escobar.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband, Jorge Rueda of Rhome; her son, Gabriel Rueda of Rhome; her daughter, Sophia Rueda of Rhome; her parents, Jesus and Nubia Escobar of Colombia; her sisters, Luz Karime, and Fabiola Escobar of Colombia;  her brothers, Casar Escobar, Gonzalo Escobar, Gino Escobar, Diego Escobar, and Eddie Escobar of Colombia; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
