Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 20th at the First United Methodist Church with Reverends Shelly Brooks and Johnny Irish officiating. Interment: Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Pallbearers include Stephen Parker, Patrick Parker, Ben Williamson, Jake Williamson, Kevin Major.
Honorary Pallbearers include Gene Blagg, J. E. Carson, Jerry Watson, Sam Renshaw, Allen Cocanougher, Alford Talley, Roy Eaton, Willard Howell, Bobby Boyd, Wayne Long, Bill Spain, Bobby Wilson, Glen Smith, Jimmy Henderson, Doyl Fred Jones and Sonny Burton.
Lavaga was born February 16, 1932 in Decatur to Kenny Wilkes and Thelma Stinger (Petty) Renshaw. She married Charles Ray Long on December 3, 1949 in Marietta, Oklahoma.
Lavaga graduated from the University of Texas in 1954 with a Bachelor of Science degree. She retired as a 4th grade teacher from Decatur ISD. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 61 years, Charlie Long; two daughters, Charlotte Williamson, Susanne Long Parker and husband, Randy all of Decatur; son, Charles Ray "Chuck" Long, Jr. and partner, Tom Amirante of Nashville, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Sarah Chirakadze, Stephen Parker, Ben Williamson, Patrick Parker and Jake Williamson; and 10 great grandchildren.
