Laverna Jean (Pickett) Barnard

Boyd ~ Laverna Jean Barnard, 90, of Boyd went to be with our Lord Tuesday, June 19, 2018 in Boyd.

Graveside is 10:30 a.m. Monday at New Hope Cemetery in Boyd.

Pallbearers include Sam Wren, Christopher Wren, Luke Mowry, Colton Mowry, Jonathan Nida, Mike Mawhirter, Jerry Nida, and John Short.  Honorary pallbearers are David Hale, Sean Mawhirter, and Joshua Nida.

Laverna was born November 10, 1927 to Andrew and Mary (Duncan) Pickett in Clairette.  She was united in marriage on January 17, 1942 to L.N. Barnard in Weatherford.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 61 years; her brother, Cecil Pickett; and her sisters, Wanda Porter and Wilma Largent.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Ann Mawhirter and husband Mike of Derby, Kansas, Linda Wren and husband Bob of Grapevine, Patricia Barnard of Boyd, and Sandra Short and husband John of Fort Worth; her son, Sonny Barnard and wife Kelly of Haslet; her grandchildren, Sean Mawhirter, Sam Wren, Christopher Wren, Laura Mowry, David Hale, Amy Johnson, and Kristy Nida; her 11 great grandchildren; her 3 great-great grandchildren; her brothers, A.J. Pickett and wife Cheryl, and Donald Pickett and wife Laquetta; her sister, Roxie Kirby; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
