Decatur ~ LaVerne Moreland 84, a homemaker, went to be with our Lord Tuesday, September 27, 2016 in Decatur.
Funeral is 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Rhome Church of Christ with burial in Aurora Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Hawkins funeral Home Decatur.
Roy Deaver will officiate. Pallbearers include Ray Steward, David Steward, Mark Moreland, Michael Moreland, Jon Moreland, and Grant Dixon.
LaVerne was born on December 26, 1931 to Arthur and Etta (Clayton) Jones in Seymour, Texas. She was united in marriage to Edward Moreland on July 13, 1950 in Clovis New Mexico. LaVerne was a member of the Rhome Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Etta Mae(Clayton) Jones; her sister Mildred Roberts; her husband Edward “Buck” Moreland; her grandson, James Moreland.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, Max Moreland of Wilmington, North Carolina, Shawn Moreland and wife Susan of Lumberton, Texas, Mark Moreland and wife Pamela of Rhome; her daughter, Dequette Moreland Jones and husband Robert of Boyd; her 11 grandchildren; her 20 great-grandchildren;
numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
