Decatur: Lawrence Linzley Bowling, 95, a rancher, went to be with our Lord, Wednesday, August 17, 2011 in Decatur.
Funeral service is 2 p.m. Sunday, August 21st at the Countryside Baptist Church near Decatur with Pastor Jeff Tackett officiating. Interment: New Fairview Cemetery. Family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Saturday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Pallbearers include, Scott Bowling, Tony Jackson, Chris Contakos, Jr., Barry Bowling, Dodd Bowling and Tom Talley. Honorary pallbearers include Elton McCurdy, Bob Huggins and Eric Staton.
Lawrence was born March 25, 1916 in Little Elm, Texas to Robert and Lillie May (Hurley) Bowling. He married Isabelle Annie Teague in October, 1935 in Decatur, Texas and was married 64 years at her death in March, 2000. Lawrence retired from Lockheed-Martin after 39 years of service. He was a lifetime member of the Decatur Masonic Lodge and a member of the Countryside Baptist Church.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his daughter, Beverly Contakos; three sons, Gary, Robby and Rickey Bowling; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
