Decatur: Leon Mares Tovar, 74, of Mexico went to be with our Lord on Thursday, March 11, 2009 in Decatur.
Graveside service is 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 17th in Oaklawn Cemetery with Sara Fernandez officiating. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.
Pallbearers are Gonsalo Mares, Rodrigo Mares, Jesus Mares, Panfilo Fernandez, Aurelio Fernandez and David Inguazo.
Leon was born on May 11, 1934 in Jerez Zacatecas, Mexico to Julian and Matiana (Tovar) Mares.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Raque Hernandez Mares of El Paso, Texas; sons, Gerado and Alberto Mares of El Paso; daughter, Nora Mares of El Paso; sisters, Irene Mares of Decatur and Angela Mares of Jerez Zacatecas, Mexico; brother, Gonzalo Mares of Jerez Zacatecas, Mexico.
Leon is preceded in death by four sisters, Maria, Nieves, Esperanza, Enriqueta Mares and brother, Leandro Mares.
