Leora Bernice Spain

Funeral service is 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 6th at First United Methodist Church in Decatur with Reverends Roy Spore and Johnny Irish officiating. Interment: Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.

Pallbearers include Sam Renshaw, Bob Carter, Bill Carter, Martin Woodruff, Roger Bridges, and Fred Maples. Honorary pallbearers include Billy Wiley and Sam Erwin.

Leora was born March 7, 1919 in Boyd, Texas to Charles Ross and Myrtle (Pavillard) Bridges. Leora retired from A.S.C. and Forest Service in Decatur after years of service. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Upper Room Sunday School Class of the First United Methodist Church.

She married J.Z. Spain on April 7, 1939 in Marietta, Oklahoma and was married 59 years at his death on November 3, 1998. Leora was also preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Spain, two brothers and one sister.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Janine Lewis and husband, Jack of Arlington; three grandchildren, Lance Lewis and wife Jodie, Amber Tabora and husband, Edwin, Shelly Stanfield and husband, Blake; three great grandsons, Heath and Jes Stanfield and Jackson Tabora; nieces, Evia Lou Dillenay, Donna Lewis and JoBeth Ross; numerous other nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
