CHICO -- Leroy Preston, 73, a retired heavy equipment operator and supervisor for APAC Texas in Irving, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009, in Wichita Falls.
Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hawkins Funeral Chapel. Burial: Chico Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Rev. Todd Dunn will officiate. Pallbearers: Leroy Preston, Jr., Larry Bates, Michael Preston, Jason Quintero, Jim Duncan, and R.J. Goodman.
Leroy was born on November 2, 1935, the son of Willard and Wilda (Witt Lucas) Preston in Vine grove, Kentucky. He married Sue Preston on September 6, 1976 in Fairfield, Texas.
Leroy was preceded in death by his wife, Sue and granddaughter, Stephanie Bates.
Left behind to cherish his memory are: daughters, Tammy Sanders of Chico, Cathy Boughton and husband Charles of Scottsburg, Illinois, Kimberly Moon of Louisbville, Kentucky; sons, Leroy Preston, Jr. and wife Joyce of Paradise, Bobby Frank Bates and wife Cindy of League City, Ricky Lynn Bates and wife Julie of Manville, Larry Don Bates of Chico, Robby Joe Bates and wife Diane of Thornton; 12 grandchildren; sisters, Thelma Donahue and husband Pat, Faye Rarick and husband Teddy.
