Lewis Edward Rotton

Boyd ~ Lewis Edward Rotton, 95, a retired employee at Wyatt's Cafeteria in Haltom City and a lifelong resident of Boyd, Texas went to be with Jesus Sunday, January 8, 2017.  He looked forward to the day he'd walk stride for stride with Jesus.

Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Boyd with burial in Boyd Cemetery.  Family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel.

Rev. Steven Bernard will officiate.  Pallbearers include Barry Brown, Ralph Guillott, Adrian Proudfoot, Jack Proudfoot, and Kent Spencer.

Lewis was born November 20, 1921 to Emma Lee (Whetsel), and James Ben Rotton in Fort Worth.  When Lewis was three days old, he was stricken with a form of Polio.  The doctors told his parents to prepare themselves because he wouldn't live through the night.  He always said "I'm here because of the power of prayer".  Lewis loved life and his strength, stubbornness and love for the Lord and strawberry milkshakes sustained him 95 years.

In December 1956 his preacher introduced him to Laverne Mitchell of Kingsland, Arkansas.  They married April 24, 1957.  They built their marriage on trust, devotion and many prayers.  He referred to Laverne as his one and only true love.  A love that will last an eternity!  Lewis proved many times you can do anything you set your mind to.

Lewis was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Jack and Pete Rotton.

He is survived by the love of his life, Laverne; sisters-in-law, Doris, Helen, and Wanda (Marion); brother-in-law, James Mitchell (Bonnie); numerous nieces, nephews and many beloved friends who thought of him as family.
